Storytelling: Hello Matthew

Being red-headed is one of the most awesome unique things. This family (who I have had the pleasure to know since we first moved to Maryland and knew no-one) makes amazing little red-haired humans. Their first kiddo is the same age as my son so when I saw they were expecting another baby I was hoping I could photograph him or her.

He arrived, fashionably late, last week. I rushed on over this weekend to meet Matthew and do an in-home newborn session. Not remembering that I myself have the wonderful red-headed feisty-ness, me and Matthew were not fast friends at first.

Even though I spent most of my time trying and failing to remove the paci like a ninja, I was able to capture some of the sweetest moments between a sister and her new baby brother. Seriously, how adorable is this?

Both mom and dad are skilled at making cute kiddos and beautiful music. They are both amazing musicians and wanted a musical shot of Matthew.

Momma had really hoped for a few more pictures of Matthew, minus the pacifier. I returned the next day to make sure she had the images that she had been thinking of for the last nine months! Round two with Matthew was paci free but, he still took his time giving me tons of side eye. I love it! You can catch a few ‘who is this crazy lady’ looks in the adorable images below.

I am so happy that I was able to visit old and friends and their new babe on this weekend trip to Maryland! They were so easy to work with and very kind. It is not always easy to invite someone into your home when you bring home a new family member. I am always honored to be able to take pictures this way! I want to finish this blog post with my absolute favorite picture from their session, this little girl is going to make a wonderful big sister, ballet leap photobombing and all!
